Will Althoff placed 3rd at the Bulldog Powerlifting Open.

A big congratulations to Waubay School sophomore Will Althoff. Will is on the Summit Powerlifting team. He placed 3rd in 220.4-pound male class in the Bulldog Powerlifting Open in Baltic on Saturday. Will had a total of 885 pounds with a squat of 335, bench press of 180, and deadlift of 370. Each lifter gets 3 attempts to lift their best squat, bench press and deadlift. The best lift in each of those movements is combined for a total. This total determines how they place within their weight class.  This is the 9th year of the Summit Powerlifting team according to Coach Evan Pottebaum. The team lifts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6:00am, pretty much year-round. Coach Pottebaum complements Will: “Will has been extremely dedicated and consistent over the last year and that hard work and dedication is only just beginning to show. He has a tremendous amount of potential and I believe with his discipline he will continue to progress and put-up impressive numbers on the platform in the years moving forward. I believe that hard work he has put in also shows and will continue to show on the football field. I look forward to seeing the improvements he makes over the next few weeks as we prepare for the South Dakota State High School Powerlifting Meet on March 16th in Sioux Falls. “

Congratulations Will and good luck on the rest of your season!
