The Watertown Elks Lodge #838 hosted their annual hoop shoot on Sunday, December 7th at the Watertown High School. 61 area athletes ranging in age from 8-13 competed. The Elks Hoop Shoot is a nationwide free throw contest that is held annually and is one of the longest and largest running youth programs in the country.
Waubay/Summit students that placed are Coy Temple (10-11 boys) 3rd place, Odin Ebsen (8-9 boys) 1st place, Brynlee Amdahl (12-13 girls) 1st place, Cambri Bronson (8-9 girls) 2nd place, Mya Gaikowski (8-9 girls) 1st place, and Keisha Rencountre (10-11 girls) 2nd place.
Odin, Brynlee and Mya will all advance to the state competition held in Pierre on February 7th.
Other Waubay students that participated were Harlan Olson (8-9 boys), Kasen Boik (10-11 boys), Taggart Gaikowski (12-13 boys), and Gabby Lane (12-13 girls).
